COMMUNITY

In 2022, Miriam led a three month long 'Cycle for Life' program that encouraged members of the Deaf community to come along and join instructor led rides through Lee Valley Park. The project was a resounding success. It helped provide an inclusive and accessible environment, enabling them to learn new skills and improve confidence. Miriam is

currently leading a cycling/walking project with ELREM Foundation CIC and sponsored by Transport for London's  WCGL Program.

Alongside the cycling proficiency classes, we ran a 'Cycle for Life' program that encouraged members of the Deaf community that were already proficient in cycling to come along and join our instructor led rides through Lee Valley Park. The three month long program ended with smoothies and pizzas at the wonderful Clarnico Club in Stratford. Happy memories!

EXPERIENCE

UPSKILL YOUR COMMUNITY

The Deaf Cycling UK project delivered BIG TIME. We wanted to encourage the Deaf community to cycle more, learn new skills and bridge the gap between the mainstream cycling community by raising awareness. Making the project inclusive and accessible allowed us raise the confidence of the Deaf participants and create a real community atmosphere.

CYCLE YOUR WAY TO HAPPINESS

Cycling is beautiful, the instructors taught me things to improve my confidence, building up my skills. Now I know how to indicate, left and right, how to observe my surroundings.

Now I feel much better, I am able to ride in streets, parks and deal with crossroads/junctions. It’s been fantastic and the instructors have been great. I can’t thank them enough!
